Hi there! My name is Kirsten, and i'm the hands and heart behind the Rumi Pals!
I'm a 27 year-old self taught fiber artist based in Ontario, Canada. I have always been a deeply creative person, but my passion for crochet took a new meaning a few years ago.
When I was diagnosed with Acute Myloid Leukemia (AML), I found comfort in my hook and yarn. Even on the difficult days, creating was my escape. As I recovered, my perspective shifted; all I wanted to do was put smiles on people's faces. I realized that making these cute amigurumi stuffies was the perfect way to spread that happiness. I make each Rumi Pal with ultra soft yarn and lots of love!
I absolutely adore what I do, and I hope to continue sharing these little bundles of joy with you for a long time to come!

The Story Behind "Rumi Pals"
I have always dreamed of turning my creativity into a career, being my own boss, and sharing my artwork with the world. When I first picked up a crochet hook and began exploring different stitches, I fell in love with the art of creating soft, huggable friends. But when it came time to turn this into a business, I needed a name that felt just right.
While brainstorming with my parents at the kitchen table, we realized that the perfect name was hiding right inside the craft itself.
"Rumi" comes from the word Amigurumi
Fun Fact:
Amigurumi (pronounced ah-mee-goo-roo-mee) is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small, stuffed yarn creatures. The word comes from a blend of ami (crocheted or knitted) and nuigurumi (stuffed doll).
By taking the heart of the word -Rumi- and combining it with friendship, Rumi Pals was born. My goal is to stay true to the meaning of the word: creating stuffed dolls that become your best pals!
How Your Purchase Helps
Transparancy is important to us. For every Rumi Pal adopted, we immediately set aside $1 into a dedicated donation fund. We do not donate per individual transaction; instead, we pool these funds together to make a larger impact.
The Schedule: At the end of every quarter, we tally up the total Rumi Pals sold and make a lump-sum donation directly to the Juravinski Hospital Cancer Centre.
